The magnolia flower I have been waiting for opened before I went out in the morning, and I inhaled the perfume before I saw it.
It closed for the evening.
The morning saw it opened wide
She watched me taking photos
Then it rained
Tonight’s welcome rain will weigh down the petals and tomorrow, only the seed stem will remain and the perfume will be gone.
Beautiful variations on a theme! The magnolias I’ve seen here have the “center bits” that look like marshmallow candies. I’ll have to post a shot I have one of these days.

Now I can look for magnolia blossoms since you captured it beautifully and I know what it would look like! 🙂

Thank you 🙂 I hope you find some. I guess, if you’re in the northern hemisphere, they would be getting ready to think about growing new leaves & flowering now.

These photos are just gorgeous. I love magnolias, and their beauty shines here. I can almost smell them. Such a poetic journey, too.
What do you shoot with? My hubbie is a photographer, also.

Thank you 🙂 I love magnolias & have always tried to capture them in the camera – sometimes more successfully than others! I’m not a photographer as such – it’s just something I love doing, & I’m afraid my camera’s nothing flash – it’s a wee Canon Power-Shot: a point-and-shoot, although admittedly, it’s a damn good little camera. & cheap too! One day, I hope to get a dslr, though really, I’d love to try film, except there’s not many places left for processing let alone buying the film!

I am very glad you enjoyed them, Nia. My courtyard was filled with the perfume, but this morning? After all the rain? The petals are completely brown yet – bending close, there is still perfume amidst the ruins. Keira xxx

Stunning portraits. Very punchy colors, and nice contrasts…a sad story, but if flowers never went away, would they even be half as special?

Thanks, Snapshooter. THey are such beautiful flowers & yeah, they do illustrate life’s story for all, don’t they? But I just love the elegant simplicity of the magnolia’s shape, the colour of it and that surprising yet still understated colour inside.
